28.9.14 Quex Park, Birchington, Kent


Realised looking at the African collections that Powell-Cotton had from the Sudan and Angola that a lot of the artefacts looked so similar to things l had seen in Kenya and other museums – the hedgehog on a piece of bamboo symbolising fertility in a maize field was quite unique though.  Just realise that if you believe in what the object represents its outward appearance matters little aesthetically as we know it in the West.
